Iran and South Korea Approve Extradition Treaty

Nourlaw.com- Tehran- 5 July 2017- The Iranian Parliament approved The Law of Treaty of Extradition of Criminals between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Korea on 19 Ordibehesht 1395 (9 May 2017). In the introduction of the treaty it is stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Korea agree to extradite any person who because of an extraditable crime is under prosecution, trial or execution of the punishment and is found in the territory of the requesting party.
The treaty has 23 articles and consists of subjects such as Commitment of Extradition, Extraditable Crimes, Obligatory Instances of Avoidance of Extradition, Discretionary Instances of Avoidance of Extradition, Extradition of the Parties’ Nationals, Extradition Request and Necessary Documents; Interim Detainment, Taking Decision on the Extradition Request, Delivery of the Assets, Costs, Settlement of Disputes….(Official Gazette 5 July 2017).
