Nourlaw.com-Tehran-2 August 2017- According to the opinion of the speaker of the Iranian parliament, Mr. Ali Larijani, the government decision to buy foreign cars for the governor’s office of the province of Ardabil is regarded as incompatible with the law.
In 2002, the parliament legislated that except for Iranian diplomatic missions and police, the government would be only permitted to buy domestically manufactured cars.
According to Principles 85 and 138 of the Constitution, the government decrees shall be brought to the knowledge of the speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (parliament) for his study and in the event he finds them contrary to law, he may send the same back to the government stating the reason for reconsideration by the Council of Ministers (Official Gazette 2 August 2017).
