List of drugs to be manufactured for downsizing imports

Nourlaw.com, 26 December 2007 -- The director general for surveillance of drugs and narcotics affairs of the ministry of health in circular letter number D/5/52/39054 dated 7/9/86 (28 November 2007) has declared: 'Since provision of factual and transparent information in relation to adoption of expertly and adequately rendered decisions shall have an important and indisputable role in expansion of the national drug industry, attached hereto is the list of the drugs for which manufacturing licenses are available. It also contains the number of applicants and the stage of consideration for the related files and the drugs for which import applications have been made. It is hoped that the related expertise, experience, technology, time and financial resources shall be utilized to expedite the issuance of licenses for the manufacture of new drugs and result in further reduction of the country's dependence on imported drugs. The list has been placed on the Food and Drug Office website www.fdo.ir and shall be updated every month".

Nourlaw.com, 6 December 2007-- Iranian parliament approved on 24/7/1386 (16 October 2007) the Islamic Republic of Iran becoming signatory to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) which enables inventors to register their patents in PCT member countries simply by filing a single application with the related national registration authority. The legislation was published on 11 November 2007 in the Official Gazette and has been in effect from 27 November 2007. The Treaty last modified on 3 October 2001, is designed to be an instrument for the progress of science and technology through bolstering and improving the legal protection of inventions. It is intended to simplify and render more economical procurement of protection for inventions where protection is sought in several countries. The Treaty facilitates and accelerates public access to the technical information contained in documents describing new inventions, thereby fostering and increasing the pace of economic growth in developing countries through the adoption of measures designed to upgrade the efficiency of their legal systems, whether national or regional. It promotes protection for inventions by providing easily accessible information on the availability of applicable technological solutions to special needs and by facilitating access to the ever expanding volume of modern technology.PCT stipulates that no provision of the Treaty shall be interpreted as diminishing the rights under the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property (Paris Convention) of any national or resident of any country party to that Convention. An international application shall contain, as specified in this Treaty and the Regulations, a request, a description, one or more claims, one or more drawings (where required), and an abstract. The abstract merely serves the purpose of technical information and cannot be taken into account for any other purpose, particularly not for the purpose of interpreting the scope of the
